Here are a collection of cocktail blogs that I find most interesting and entertaining to follow (in no particular order):

1. http://drinkdogma.com/

Drink Dogma is the blog maintained by the busy owners of Houston bar, Anvil Bar & Refuge.

2. http://www.alcademics.com/

Alcademics.com is journalist Camper English’s blog about cocktails, spirits, bars, and bartenders, as well as the place to find links to Camper’s published work on other sites.

3. http://caskstrength.wordpress.com/

Blog of Andrew Bohrer who writes, the purpose of this blog is a writing project that will be a reference for new bartenders. Well honestly, new bartenders that want to learn classic style. You can learn trash drinks anywhere, or trash technique. You can also read a ton of blogs where some nerd basically just re-prints shit from old cocktail books. What I focus on is how things were done best and finding the best way to do them now; without comprising quality or speed.

4. http://www.jeffreymorgenthaler.com/

Blog of Jeffrey Morgenthaler, Bar manager at Clyde Common in Portland, Oregon. Do you really need any more reasons to follow this blog?

5. http://www.kaiserpenguin.com/

6. http://www.liquorsnob.com/

News and tips on all things alcoholic, including beer and wine, breathalyzers, cocktails and spirits; plus drink recipes, booze reviews and more. All the news that’s fit to drink.

7. http://imbibemagazine.blogspot.com/

Imbibe Magazine’s between-issues look at liquid culture with drink recipes, news and more. From coffee to cocktails, Imbibe celebrates your world in a glass.

8. http://beachbumberry.com/

Maintained by Michael Dietsch, a writer, editor, and accidental bartender in Providence, Rhode Island. Dietsch has written about spirits and cocktails at A Dash of Bitters since February 2006; he’s the former cocktail columnist for Edible Rhody magazine; and he contributes to Serious Eats.

After working many years in restaurants she is now a mobile phones marketer and consultant, while still occasionally bartending, writing her blog and hanging out in the Mixoloseum bar chat room. Her favorite cocktail is a proper Mai Tai.

12. http://www.artofdrink.com/

Darcy O’Neil is a bartender with a formal education in chemistry. His motive for becoming a bartender was part by chance and partially to fulfill his culinary desires.
Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Derrick Schommer and I’m from Southern New Hampshire, grew up here and pretty much have stuck around. I’m not a huge fan of the big city so this offers me the ability to live in a quite area yet still have access to mid-sized cities and a 40-min drive to Boston.

Currently I do a few jobs, some for pay and some seem to just take up time. My “real day job” is selling high tech hardware for a major networking company as a field systems engineer. That means I have to be a sales guy but also know lots of technical details.

My first side job is more of a social network/media job (which I also used to do for a bit in the real world) which pairs well with sales. I am a podcaster for a few audio shows and a video host for Common Man Cocktails at everydaydrinkers.com.

My second side job is more of a web development consultant/developer. I help small companies in the local area grow their web presence and assist those that consider themselves “cave man status” when it comes to technology. This has turned into a bit of a hobby and less of a job over the years

What is your favorite mixed drink ingredient?

My ingredient tastes change with the times, currently I’m kinda into a good bourbon. Sometimes I’m more into a reposado or añjeo tequila.

I’m also a huge fan of dark rum or any real rum variety during the hot summer months. I find rum to be one of the most versatile of spirits when it comes to both infusing your own homemade flavors, buying flavors or just enjoying the classic distilled white/dark/aged and amber. My only beef with rum is its inability to clearly define categories and ages. What’s the official age of a dark rum, what’s a light rum, gold, etc.

What is your favorite mixed drink recipe?

So, my own version of the whiskey sour. GarnishBar has a different recipe than the one I use, but the best part of a Whiskey Sour recipe is variety. I don’t want to drink the same cocktail over and over yet I want it to have a mild sour and a good whiskey so it’s a great match.

A close second is a margarita with a mojito following up third.

What does your real liquor cabinet look like?

There is no cabinet that can contain my liquor unfortunately. Anyone that watches Common Man Cocktails can see we have way too much to even display on camera. Besides the set, I’ve got it behind the camera, on both sides of the camera out of view, on the floor, in my freezer, in my fridge and a few bottles in the dinning room and a couple bottles of scotch near one of my computers. Most people believe I have more alcohol than the NH liquor store…

Have you ever wanted to know what mixed drink recipes you could...

Have you ever wanted to know what mixed drink recipes you could make with the ingredients that you current have?
